MARTINSVILLE -- Victor M. Jakle, 83, of Martinsville died at 10 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 23, 1993) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Long officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
He was born Oct. 19, 1909, in Effingham, the son of William Andrew and Flora Emily Schmidt Jakle. He married Thelma Collier in 1938; she died in 1991.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia Chalifouy of Sun City Center, Fla., and Audrey DelValle of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jakle retired from the city and state highway departments. He was a Navy veteran of WWII a member of the Martinsville United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Lions Club.

Martinsville, Ill. - Thelma Jakle, 83, of 200 N. Washington St. died at 11:54 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 1991, in Covenant Medical Center at Urbana. She was a homemaker. She was born April 20, 1908, in Martinsville to Nora Collier. Survivors include her husband, Victor Jakle. She was a member of United Methodist Church. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday in Greenwell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brad Long officiating. Burial is in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today.
