Recd (AGO) July 20 1858

Fort Arbuckle C.N.

Colonel
I have the honor to inform you that theres a party of Indians, supposed to be Comanches by the signs, stole nineteen head of horses, six miles west of here, on the night of the 19th inst. on the night of the 20th they stole 22 head two miles east of here, and same night 24 head ten miles north east from here, and nine from the Wichita's 18 miles west of here, on the line running west to the 98th parallel the greater number of the horses stolen, belonged to Chickasaws.
By signs discovered on Wild horse creek it would seem there is several small parties lurking around here, in case they should make an attack on this post, it would be as much as we could do, to keep them out, as there is not ____ than some six persons here, the most of the Chickasaws that live near here have gone with Governor Harris on the 98th parallel. I shall take every precaution, and be [prepared] for them if they should come which I think they will hardly ____ undertake.
It is probable that the reason of their coming down here is that the Texans are prepared to give them a warm reception if they venture among them

Very Respectfully
