Fort Gibson C.N.
January 10th 1855
Sir
I have the honor to state that some
time in August last, Major Geo. Andrews
7th Inf. Comd'g Officer at Fort Arbuckle
arrived here and informed me that he
had received my appointment as Ordnance
Sergeant to his Post. On this information
I accepted the appointment in my letter
of about the 3d or 5th of September last.
By yesterday's mail I received a
certified copy of the appointment furnished
for the Comd'g Officer of Fort Arbuckle,
by which it appears my appointment dated
from the 1st of Febuary [sic] 1854. Which I respectfully
accept. The original appointment
must have miscarried as the above mentioned
copy is the first official notice of
the appointment that has been received at
this Post. On the receipt of which the
Comd'g Officer of this Post has relieved me
from duty, with orders to report at Fort Arbuckle
without delay.
I am Sir
very respectfully
over
