Mrs. Elizabeth Dix died Friday at the home of her son, Wm Dix, as the result of a stroke of paralysis. She was born in Feb. 1829 and has always resided near the place of her birth northwest of town, being aged nearly 80 years. She was the daughter of Abram and Rebecca Conrad and was married to Alfred Dix , who died in April of 1899(?). She was the mother of six children, the living being Asa and Wm. Dix and Mrs. Rebecca Howerton. The deceased are Mrs. Rachel Reynolds, and Mrs. Debbie Reynolds. She is also survived by three sisters. Mrs. Paulina Winters of this place, Mrs. Emma Dickerson of Flat Rock and Mrs. Queen Houts of Fairland and one brother, Johnson Conrad of Olney. For over forty years she has been a member of the Baptist church near which she resided and she was indeed a faithful disciple, always ready to assist in anything that would advance the cause of her Master or relieve the suffering of humanity. Aunt "Betty", as she was familiarly known, was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held by Elder J. L. Cox Sunday morning at the home of Wm. Dix and burial was made in the Musgrave cemetery. A large crowd was present to show their respect and esteem of a noble life.
