Affidavit of Christopher Duff

County of Gregg

Personally appeared before me this day Christopher Duff to me well known, and being duly sworn says that he was a [musician?] of Capt Henry Little Company E 7th U.S. Inf served at the Post of Fort Gibson Ind Tery from May 1853 until August 1859 and of his own knowledge knows that Franklin Rounds while on duty as Qr M Sergeant under the direction of Lt H.M. Black Regimental Qr M. While on active duty hauling stores from the Steam boat landing to the Qr M stores on the 15th day of September 1854 was thrown from a wagon and seriously injured which injury resulted in rupture or Hernia and that he was stationed at Fort Schuyler N.Y. harbor in 1865 and of his own knowledge knows that on the 1st day of March 1865 that he Franklin Rounds applied at the recruiting office on Cedar Street New York to reenlist but was rejected by the examining surgeon on account of being ruptured but through the intervention of Genl Crook superintendent on recruiting service in New York was reenlisted on the 15th day of March 1865 by an order from the War Dept.
