Obituary of Richard Y. Spikings Jr.

Naperville Sun, The (IL) - July 16, 1997

Richard Y. Spikings Jr., 76, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Chicago, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Chicago.

Mr. Spikings is survived by his wife, Irene; five daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Thomas) Hennegan of Wheaton, Sandra Peterson of Marengo, Janis (Mrs. Robert) Jandrisits of Glen Ellyn, June (Mrs. Vince) Winkel of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Jeri (Mrs. Curt) Steger of Carpentersville; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Jean Movius of Port Charlotte, and Lucile Pryde of Evanston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 16, at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton.

Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.

Richard Y. Spikings, 76, died. A former Edison Park resident and a descendant of the pioneer Spikings family of Chicago's North Side, he had moved to Port Charlotte, Fla.

A Chicago-area funeral service was held July 16 at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Interment was at Acacia Park Cemetery.

He was survived by his wife, Irene; daughters Sharon (Thomas) Hennegan, Sandra Peterson, Janis Jandrisits, June (Vince) Winkel and Jeri (Curt) Steger; grandfather of six; brother of Alice Jean Movius and Lucille Pryde.

Memorial service will be held in Florida. Contributions in her memory may be made to local Hospice organizations.
