In Memoriam

Tribute of Respect to the memory of the late Conrad Kolbe

Last Tuesday all that was mortal of Conrad Kolbe was laid to rest in this grave. He departed this life after a brief illness of Pneumonia Friday, February 14, at his late home, a very commodius farm house in Washington township. The funeral took place Tuesday forenoon from the M.E. church at Elimsport. Rev W.W. Clouser conducted the services and took for his text Job fifth chapter twenty-sixth verse. He was assisted by the Rev Kerlin. The attendance was very large and showed the high esteem in which the deceased was held by all who knew him. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Tupper, Stoumfe, Welsh, Messersmith, Schaeffer and Williams.

Mr. Kolbe was born in Holtzhausen, Kurhessen, Germany. He came to this country in 1844, and in 1857 to Williamsport. He soon after removed with his family to the farm where he lived ever since and passed peacefully away at the age of 63-years, 5 months, and 1 day. By trade he was a carpenter, but lately he devoted all his time and attention to his large and well cultivated farm. He leaves a wife, five sons and three daughters to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father.
